Welcome to the Feature Request Category

This category is dedicated to submitting and discussing feature requests for Penumbra. Community members are encouraged to contribute their ideas for improving and expanding our platform’s capabilities through the submission of feature requests, provided that the use-case for the feature can be well-articulated.

Purpose of this Category

  • To collect and organize feature suggestions from our community
  • To facilitate discussions about potential new features
  • To help our development team understand user needs and priorities

How to Use This Category

  1. Before submitting a new feature request, please search existing posts to avoid duplicates.
  2. Use the provided template when creating a new feature request post. If you are unable to fill out the template, it means that you still have to do preliminary investigation and it is recommended that you post about the more theoretical improvements to the ‘Research’ category.
  3. Be as detailed and specific as possible in your description.
  4. Engage in constructive discussions on existing feature requests and keep up with your post.
  5. Use upvotes to show support for features you’d like to see implemented.
  6. if there is consensus on the ‘Feature’ and how it could be implemented, but there is no way to create the ‘Feature’ (either you are not a developer, or do not have the capacity), it could be posted to ‘Developers’ in order to find others who might want to create it.

Guidelines for Submitting Feature Requests

  • Focus on the problem you’re trying to solve, not just the solution.
  • Consider the impact of your proposed feature on the entire ecosystem.
  • Be respectful and open to feedback from other community members.
  • Understand that not all feature requests can be implemented, but all are valuable for understanding user needs.
