Enhancing User Experience – Gar’s DEX Demo

Gar (PM at Penumbra Labs) took the community through a live demonstration of the current Veil DEX, highlighting:

  • Swap Execution & Liquidity Management – The interface is being improved for seamless trade execution, with a more intuitive user flow.

Route Book & Range Liquidity Tool – The Route Book highlights a key feature of the Penumbra DEX: Penumbra’s DEX automatically finds the best trading path across all available liquidity. These new features give users more control over liquidity positions and trading strategies.

Onboarding Guide – An updated quick start guide is in the works to help new users navigate the shielding process and trading functionalities: check it out here.

User Research Solicited – Prax 2 is in the works! Please fill out your Prax 2 Wishlist in this form. Feedback is crucial! Gar invited the community to actively participate in testing and refining the platform, we’re always available at #feedback channel in the Discord.

ZEC Hub – Educating & Expanding the Community

Eclipse grant recipients Zec Hub, an educational hub for Zcash is leading the charge in educating users about Penumbra. Their current efforts include:

  • Developing Educational Content – Guides, videos, and tutorials to help new users understand and utilize privacy-focused blockchain solutions.

  • Hosting Bounty Program – Creating bounty programs to engage both developers and users, demonstrating real-world usage of private payment systems. Rewards of UM are distributed through a task completion on Dework. Interested users are encouraged to join their Discord to participate in the ongoing bounty program for Penumbra.

PK Labs – Expanding Developer Support

Penumbra collaborators PK Labs is working on several key initiatives to make Penumbra more developer-friendly, especially on building a blockchain explorer like Noctis. What they do:

  • Providing a simple solution in creating user-friendly applications for end-users.

  • This includes a very useful function for developers to explore raw JSON feature where a developer can find all the information that is coming from the blockchain to use it for use cases when building on Penumbra.

  • Continuously improving the first version of the Noctis explorer’s features to meet the user needs based on their feedback, and for enhancing the wallet features. You can watch the live demo for the actual screens.

  • Implementing decrypted and encrypted state in the application - which will allow you to have the same user experience across all the applications without getting distracted when you move across applications and on different screens.

  • Working on the next iterations for the Noctis explorer to a more intuitive, consistent UI across different applications such as IBC, validator, and governance screens.

Penumbra Labs – Expanding the Ecosystem

Penumbra is expanding its ecosystem through several key initiatives that focus on interoperability, developer tooling, user experience, and strategic partnerships.

Here’s what’s in the pipeline:

  • Building a foundation of privacy – Penumbra aims to connect and integrate with other blockchain protocols like Namada and other blockchain networks that focus on privacy.

Penumbra is actively working on extending its capabilities beyond its native environment:

  • Connecting with EVM-based ecosystems (like Ethereum), making it possible for assets from those chains to interact within Penumbra’s privacy layer.

  • Interfacing with Cosmos chains by aligning with IBC standards, enabling private cross-chain interactions.

  • Preparing to release a Penumbra SDK that helps developers create tools or apps on top of the protocol.

  • Continuous Strategic Contributions from Community Projects such as PK Labs and Zec Hub.
