This second call tried out a new format for community calls, of different Penumbra organizations sharing their updates. It will also be weekly! So this meeting discussed the current orgs: Radiant Commons, an advocacy organization focused on privacy and consentful technologies, particularly the Penumbra protocol, and Penumbra Labs, which develops the software that is running on the network. Key Radiant Commons updates include the redesign of the website, development of a unified UI library, and support of Penumbra participation in upcoming events at DevCon like the Shielding Summit and the Women in Web3Privacy. Penumbra Labs’ in-development Alpha were highlighted, such as the Insights Dashboard and a new trading interface. The AMA that followed addressed the decentralization of the validator set, emphasizing the importance of organic growth and community involvement in decentralization, and clarified that privacy is maintained no matter what. In Penumbra, privacy is forever! Suggestions for improving user interfaces and encouraging stake distribution to smaller validators were proposed (ETA: proposal already in the forum).
Action Items
- Community! Provide feedback on the proposed process for Penumbra Improvement Proposals (PIPs) in the forum.
- Based on community feedback, Penumbra Labs will implement a feature in the mini front interface to encourage users to stake to smaller validators.
