Hello frens. IBC is heart and soul of cosmos. As you probably realized right now users cannot move any funds in and out of penumbra. It would be nice if someone could run the relayers:
penumbra <> cosmos hub
penumbra <> noble
penumbra <> osmosis
penumbra <> celestia
I tried to build one for Noble with claude but i am just no smart enough to do so. Noble should be priority.
issue is that is not sustainable in current economics for someone to relay for you. chain earns 0.000009usd per withdraw in burned fees while relayer pays 0.02usd to relay that message for you.
as resolution i began to run relayer with publicly announced addresses that allows you to fill wallets to enable relaying. its suboptimal, but well at least there is less technical way to get IBC working than relaying your own messages.
im going to be proposing increase in penumbra fees to make economics sustainable. its not going to solve issue that ibc msg relaying for others is altuistic action, but perhaps we can implement relaying into UI the way that everyone can relay their own messages, have governance to pay relayers or increase burnt fees enough that it makes sense for um-whale to provide this service out of charity. or community members keep tipping those wallets to enable relaying.
